Paddle- Lake Norris

Friends of the Wekiva River is leading a kayak paddle on Lake Norris at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th. Lake County's 3,500-acre Lake Norris, rimmed with ancient dwarf cypress trees with gnarled limbs and trunks, is within the Wekiva River basin. The trees are home to as many as 100 osprey nests. It's a gorgeous area!

The two-hour trip will include a portion of Blackwater Creek, which flows from the southeast end of the lake. It will be easy to moderate, depending on the wind. Participants may bring their own vessel or rent one. (We have 8 single kayaks, and one double. To rent one please bring $30 cash and reserve with Weegie ( TEXT 407-341-9025) by Friday at Noon on April 14th. Life jackets, whistle and paddles will be provided with rental.)

Directions: Follow Google Directions to Lake Norris Conservation Area

Participants should wear comfortable clothing they don't mind getting wet, bring water, sunglasses and a snack. If you'd like to stay for a post paddle picnic pack food, beverages and a blanket or chair as well!

Arrive at the launch site at 8:30. Paddle begins at 9:00 and will last 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
