BMAP Victory!
An appeal court ruled in February that state plans aren’t strong enough to protect the Wekiva and other springs and rivers. The ruling means state environmental officials may now reconsider how to address pollution that has degraded some waters. That could help improve ways of handling the nitrate levels that cause algae to choke the Wekiva.
A legal fight by the Florida Springs Council, along with support from Friends of the Wekiva River and other springs advocates, led to this victory.
